I recently registered for another free trafffic exchange site called blog directory. Its a free traffic exchange site and more importantly its only for blogs. Registration is very simple and no email address is required. All you need to do is choose your blog’s category, provide a brief decription of your blog and submit your blog URL. In return you will be asked to paste a small piece of code on your web page. That code is for a small icon which points to the site. The best feature of the site is that the blogs are shown randomly on its homepage and each time you refresh it a new blog will be shown. This way every blog gets equal exposure. There is also something called as Blog of the Day which is chosen based on the number of unique visitors sent by that blog on one day. And the Blog of the day receives the whole traffic!

First of all I would like to point out that Alexa can take upto 4 months(or even more like in my case) to update your site ranking. And the the only way to improve the Alexa ranking is by installing their toolbar. And you must also encourage your friends and other users to do so. Fortunately or unfortunately thats the only way. The is the way it works. You browse your site everyday with their toolbar installed on your browser. The toolbar then communicates with Alexa and updates the traffic/hits to your site in its database. Eventually you will see an improvement in your Alexa ranking. Anyone else visiting your site with Alexa toolbar installed in their browser also add to the hits. Frankly, I think Alexa is a bit selfish in having a policy of their toolbar having to be installed in order for them to improve our ranking. But revenue generating services like PayPerPost require a good Alexa ranking as well apart from Google PR so I finally made the decision to install their toolbar. I won’t say that I encourage users to do the same. But if some of you have registered for a few services that require Alexa ranking then you must install Alexa toolbar.

SERP stands for search engine results page. It is a list of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a search performed using a list of keywords. The best way to improve your site’s SERP rating is by using Meta tags and title tags. I would say title tags give better results for Google search engine as Google ignores Meta tags. For Yahoo and other search engines both Meta tags and Title tags work well. For SEO(Search Engine Optimization) is very important for the sucess of a website. SERP affects SEO and can be improved by building backlinks. For backlinks I recommend registering to webmasters like Linkreferral and also a few traffic exchange sites, a list of which is mentioned here.

Google penalizes blogs that have too many sponsored posts or links. I have heard and read from many bloggers that they have lost their PR(some from PR 3 to PR 0). This ofcourse affects your site’s SERP(Search engine results page). Bloggers who have registered for services like Paid to Write need to maintain a ratio of 5:1 ie they need to have five non-sponsored posts for every paid post/review that they write on their blog. Bloggers who essentially create blogs for just posting sponsored links or PTC ads will find it almost imposible to achieve a high PR. But as far as I know it doesn’t affect Alexa ranking as they follow a different policy.

First of all thank you for taking interest and subscribing to my blog! The fact that I now have 11 readers shows that people do like my blog. I try to post technical articles based purely on my experience. I am always trying to improve my blog and keep looking for new ways of doing it. It would be great if you can post your feedbacks which would help me improve my blog even further. I am looking for more ways to monetize my blog. I have tried Payperpost and they rejected my blog atleast 5 times. I don’t trust any PTC sites. However, please suggest more ways of earning by posting articles(like Payperpost) or like Bidvertiser which I am currently using and await my first payment. Happy blogging and thank you for subscribing!

There is a very effective and a simple way of getting each post in your blog indexed. You must remember that search engines have an appetite for HTML links. The more links your blog has the better the chances of it getting indexed. As you may know, not all posts receive comments and not all posts become popular in a blog. You can comment on other blogs using the URL of some of your posts if you want internal links/backlinks to your inner pages of your blog. I had mentioned in my earlier post that posting comments on other blogs with the Name/URL option gives your blog an internal link. Hence, you must encourage people to comment on your blog with their Name/URL option instead of their Google account. I know its out of our control and only people who are aware of this fact may use the Name/URL option.
This is the reason why commenting with URLs is so important to indexing. Posts that have received a few comments with the Name/URL have a much better chance of getting indexed and to appear on the first page of a google search than posts that receive comments with no URL. I am stating this based on my personal experience.

Just what are internal links? Well, they are links in your own site pointing to your other pages. You know, like those links in the navigation menus or Archives? They are used for navigation among your pages. But, you should know that internal links can be good for Search Engine Optimization(SEO) as well. Think of internal links as similar to backlinks from other websites except they point to other pages in your site. Although the page rank influence from internal links is probably less compared to those of external links, I am sure that they still help in improving PR. And since these links are in your own site, you can do whatever you want with them. As far as your blog is concerned you may want to note these important points about internal links:

    • Each post in your blog has a URL and each of these URLs gives you an internal link.
    • Make sure your blog has an Archive of previous posts which automatically gives you an internal link.
    • Each entry in any side-bars or navigation-bars will give you an internal link.

I also found out something, which is important to all bloggers, about commenting on other blogs. When you comment on other blogs with the “Name/URL” option, each comment gives you an Internal Link and not a Backlink as assumed by many. (I have checked that personally by logging into google webmaster and checking my list of internal links). The definition of Internal Link clearly states that its a link pointing to other pages of your own site or to other pages of another site in the same domain. Since all blogger blogs belong to the same domain which is blogspot, commenting doesn’t help in getting backlinks which are essentially external links. Instead, commenting helps in getting only internal links apart from a way to advertise your blog indirectly. However, if a blogger(blogspot) user comments on a Wordpress blog then it would give him a backlink as the domains of blogger and Wordpress are different. Hope this information was useful.
